Management
BayWa r.e. renewable energy GmbH is jointly led by Managing Directors Matthias Taft (Chairman), Günter Haug and Harald Wilbert
Matthias Florian Taft (Chairman)
Matthias Taft has a degree in Process Engineering from the Technical University of Munich and a degree in Engineering Management from the University of Hagen. He held management roles in various engineering consultancies, including ETAPLAN, for ten years. He played a leading role in the merger of four companies, ETAPLAN GmbH amongst them, to form RENERCO Renewable Energy Concepts AG. From 2003 onwards, Matthias Taft established the development, turnkey construction and operations management of wind energy and photovoltaic projects – both on the technical and commercial front – as core business areas of RENERCO AG. Here, first as a board member and later as chairman, he assumed responsibility for all matters concerning finance, investor relations and all strategic decisions. In January 2013, he became a Managing Director of BayWa r.e. renewable energy GmbH. Matthias Taft maintains responsibility for project business, strategy, law and corporate finance as well as services. Since April 2015, he has also been a member of the Management Board of BayWa AG and is responsible for the energy side of the business (conventional and renewable), as well as all international investments.
Günter Haug
Günter Haug studied Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences, Esslingen. He worked as a photovoltaics sales engineer following his studies. In 1996, he joined MHH Solartechnik GmbH as a sales engineer, and in 2000 became Managing Director. Starting with just five employees, he turned the company into a nationwide photovoltaics wholesaler employing more than 100. Following the acquisition of MHH Solartechnik by BayWa r.e. in 2010, he became responsible for international expansion and management of the photovoltaics wholesale business. Since January 2013, Günter Haug has been a Managing Director of BayWa r.e. renewable energy GmbH. He is responsible for photovoltaics wholesaling, energy trading, marketing and IT.
Harald Wilbert
Harald Wilbert studied Applied Economics at RWTH Aachen University. After taking his degree, he began his career in management accounting. Since 2004, he has consistently assumed general business responsibilities. In addition to gaining professional experience in industrial environments, he was also active for nine years in the conventional energy sector (natural gas). Since September 2013, Harald Wilbert has been a Managing Director of BayWa r.e. renewable energy GmbH. He is responsible for finance, HR and risk management, as well as bioenergy.
