BayWa r.e. opens control centre in the APAC region

to overview

BayWa r.e. has recently opened a new central control room in Bangkok. The operations centre was created in direct response to the significant increase in wind and solar energy projects BayWa r.e. is now managing within the Asia Pacific region.

BayWa r.e. is currently overseeing 5,190 MW of renewable power, which is set to rise by a further 220 MW as more projects come online in Asia and Australia at the end of the year.

Marc Niem, Managing Director of BayWa r.e. Operation Services GmbH, commented: “Our new operations centre will provide the very best monitoring, security and management services for our customers located in the Asia Pacific region. We will be closer to the operators, service technicians, grid operators and their third parties, enabling us to provide better maintenance, shorten our reaction time and improve analysis to achieve the very best performance for our customers’ solar and wind plants.”

“Ultimately, it will ensure that every renewable energy project is achieving optimum efficiency wherever it is in the world.”

Located in the Indochina time zone, the new control room will be better suited to its customers throughout the Asia Pacific region. The new centre will work side by side with BayWa r.e.’s main control centre in Munich, Germany.

With a presence in both Europe and Southeast Asia the control centres will provide BayWa r.e.’s customers with around the world, real time, 24-hour cover and support.

Tobias Bittkau, Global Head of BayWa r.e. Services, adds: “This region is very important to us. We are always looking to provide our clients with the best level of service. Not only will our people be closer to our customers, but we are investing heavily into digitalization, which will make our control centres amongst the best in the world.”

“The renewable energy sector is fast paced, and we have to deal with complex issues in a quick and controlled way. As we invest and develop more intelligent software we will become even more responsive and able to provide real time reporting, improved customer tracking, monitoring and react quickly should any issues arise whatever the time, wherever the location.”

Last month, BayWa r.e announced it has teamed up with asset intelligence company PowerHub, to digitalize its operation and bring greater transparency and standardisation to its clients across the globe.

Once implemented in 2019, the new bespoke centralised system will provide clients with complete access to information on their renewable energy projects, enabling them to benefit from a consistent, single interface – giving them the same real time reporting, customer experience and level of service all in one simple system.
