You receive all services from a single source - from site planning to commissioning. We also remain involved in the operation of the solar park providing both commercial and technical management. Alternatively, we can act as your electricity marketer or integrate your project into our own portfolio, operating it ourselves on a long-term basis.

PPA and direct marketing

We sell the energy we generate directly on the electricity market through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). That makes areas without EEG subsidies interesting for us!

(EEG stands for the Renewable Energy Sources Act, or Erneuerbare Energien Gesetz in German).

Our system integration

System integration plays a crucial role in the planning and construction of a solar farm. We work with trusted manufacturers for all our components, particularly for solar modules and inverters. Our experienced engineers have developed a system standard that ensuring the optimised integration of solar modules, inverters, wiring and substructure throughout the system. This means you benefit from reliable and quick project completion.

Certified Processes

In 2016, BayWa r.e. was the first company in the solar industry to be awarded the VDE certificate for the construction of standardised PV power plants. Our aim is to make best use of plant locations through site-specific system planning and top quality system technology. These are prerequisites for a high return on the investment in the installation.

As part of the Best Practice Catalogue “Good planning of ground-mounted PV systems” from the Bundesverband Neue Energiewirtschaft e.V. (bne) we have committed ourselves to complying with standards that actively promote biodiversity.

Leading the way in building ground-mounted PV installations

The solar park Barth V (8.8 MWp) on the premises of the Stralsund-Barth airport by the Baltic Sea is the first subsidy-free solar park from BayWa r.e. in Germany. Starting in 2012, a total of six solar parks were built at this location with an overall capacity of 68.4 MWp.

10 Reasons for building a ground-mounted PV system

Solar energy projects offer many advantages, from low levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) to the promotion of biodiversity. Here are some of the most important reasons why investing in a ground-mounted PV system is a worthwhile decision:

  1. Solar power has one of the lowest levelised cost of electricity (LOCE) compared to other current forms of energy.

  2. Solar power is one of the most environmentally friendly forms of electricity generation. It is free of pollutants, low in emissions and noise.

  3. It provides a long-term, stable source of income for landowners through rent. Additional income for farmers can also be possible by taking over green maintenance.

  4. A ground-mounted PV system can help provide a positive contribution to biodiversity through targeted measures.

  5. Decentralised energy generation creates local value

  6. The system is highly efficient in terms of space with minimal and temporary soil utilisation – less than 1% of the area is sealed.

  7. Systems can be easily dismantled without leaving any trace: the contractual obligations usually lies with the operator.

  8. Undeveloped and unsealed areas remain usable for groundwater replenishment as well as fauna and flora.

  9. In combination with storage systems, PV systems can be used flexibly and in a way that serves the system.

  10. EEG subsidies can be applied for, especially for disadvantaged, less productive arable land.
