BayWa r.e. has signed a framework agreement with leading logistics real estate developer Prologis for initially three strategic locations in Germany. The scope of work includes feasibility studies to evaluate building suitability for PV rooftop systems as well as the development of tailor-made turnkey solutions that can be offered through Prologis Essentials, a unique customer marketplace for sourcing warehouse operations services, products and solutions.
The projects are located in Dortmund (1.33 MWp, self-consumption), Neufahrn near Munich (750kWp, self-consumption) and Cologne (3,8 MWp, electricity will be fed into the grid) and will all be built this year.
Justin Au-Yeung, Manager Energy Solutions within Prologis Global Energy Team, commented:
“We have a strong history in pushing the boundaries of sustainability leadership globally. We believe we must go further, taking meaningful and concrete action to protect our planet whilst meeting the growing objectives of our stakeholders. Furthered by our Prologis Essentials Solar initiative, we will install worldwide 1.000MW of rooftop solar capacity by 2025, and this partnership will add significantly to our onsite solar capacity that already ranks third among U.S. corporations. BayWa r.e. is in our opinion the best fit to make this happen.”
Stephan Auracher, Managing Director of BayWa r.e. Power Solutions GmbH, said:
“We warmly welcome Prologis as our new partner. Both of our companies share the same vision and are committed to meet the urgency of today’s environmental and social challenges in “the decade that matters”. We are delighted to support Prologis in accelerating the deployment of the Prologis SolarSmart PV service portfolio in one of their largest markets in Europe, Germany. Corporations like Prologis play a decisive role in the fight against climate change and supporting them on their journey is a significant focus for us.”
